See the true outback in western Queensland exploring iconic towns and cattle stations prior to travelling north through Gulf Country savannahs. A truly spectacular flight along the isolated west coast of Cape York gets you to the exotic and remote isles of the Torres Strait before returning southwards relaxing at an uncrowded and pristine eco-retreat in the Daintree Rainforest. Your final 2 days are spent discovering the beauty of the sand-stone chasms of Carnarvon Gorge. Conquer the Cape, explore the rainforest and meet some incredible locals.

Day 1 Birdsville Depart Melbourne for Birdsville crossing the Strezelecki and Simpson Desert with ease. This afternoon explore this iconic outpost and enjoy a cold beer on your 'perch' in the colourful bar.

Day 2 Lawn Hill / Boodjamulla National Park Fly north to the oasis of Adel's Grove where you will be guided into the spectacular National Park for easy bushwalking trails and to learn about bush foods. Gently paddle your canoe through for the best perspective of this impressive gorge. Tonight's accommodation is on-site at Adel's Grove in sophisticated tents alongside a meandering stream.

Day 3 Groote Eylandt Overfly the allegra N-US">mysterious sandstone structures of the Lost City en route to Groote Eylandt, a part of Arnhem Land. Having only just opened its doors to tourists, an insight into the local culture and lifestyle is an unforgettable experience. A walk along the beach will have you searching for bush tucker and medicines, spear making and shallow water hunting. There is also a thriving art community which you will get the opportunity to visit and meet the artists.

Day 4 Karumba On the mouth of the mighty Norman River, Karumba is a significant port and there is always plenty of things to see - it's abundant in birdlife, crocodiles, barramundi and mud crabs and this afternoon's cruise will show you all this and more. Finish the day with a feast on impossibly fresh seafood on a tiny sand island out in the Gulf.

Days 5 & 6 Torres Strait - Horn Island - Thursday Island Horn Island is the gateway between Australia and Papua New Guinea - on arrival the friendly smiles of the locals welcome you to their island home. Horn Island played a major role in wartime and you will see the remnants of hidden runways and caches in the jungle. A private tour of Thursday Island will also reveal a vibrant community.

Days 7 & 8 Tip of Cape York and Cooktown After an aerial orbit of the 'tip' of Cape York, your local guide will ensure you put a tick on your bucket list and set foot on this significant landmark. The next two nights are spent in Cooktown, the place where Captain Cook careened the Endeavour for repairs in 1770. This picturesque town is steeped in fascinating history which you will learn all about on your private tour.

Days 9 & 10 Bloomfield Lodge Ansett Pilot, Percy Trezise flew low over Laura and identified likely rock art sites which he later explored on foot. We will gain you access to see this amazing and ancient Quinkan art. This afternoon it's a short flight on to your secluded and luxurious rainforest hideaway. The next two nights are spent at the beautifully remote, Bloomfield Lodge hidden in the northern Daintree Rainforest. Here you will cruise the pristine waters of the river and explore the dense rainforest.

Day 11 Longreach Situated on the Thomson River, Longreach has many highlights to note. Visit the Stockman's Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum. You will also visit a remarkable Australian at Longway Cattle Station and learn of life in the outback.

Days 12 & 13 Carnarvon Gorge A walker and photographer's paradise, protected by the bright sandstone walls, this gorge is one of the most diverse and beautiful walks in Australia. Set amongst ancient macrozamias your accommodation at Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge is African inspired and blends into the environment perfectly.

Day 14 Homeward via Come By Chance We complete the tour with a visit to our friends at Bungle Gully Station and enjoy lunch at Come by Chance made famous by Henry Lawson.
