Day One: Melbourne - Mungo Lodge
AAA guests depart Melbourne's Essendon Airport at 0800. Destination is Mungo Lodge, 90 miles north east of Mildura, arriving alongside Mungo Lodge in time for morning tea prior to an introduction tour of the area. After lunch guests are escorted on a more comprehensive tour of the lake and China Walls, allowing time for private exploration of this historically significant region that claims ownership of extremely early signs of our own human evolution, as we know it. Time to rest; accommodation is at the Mungo Lodge.
Day Two: Mungo Lodge - Muloorina, Lake Eyre
Contemplate newly learnt facts of human evolution during breakfast prior to departing Mungo Lodge. Soar over Broken Hill, Lake Frome and the northern Flinders Ranges to arrive at Muloorina Station on the edge of Lake Eyre. Welcomed as old friends by your hosts AAA guests relax and feast on a scrumptious BBQ lunch. Muloorina Station is no less than 4,000 square kilometers, a working station producing prime stock of various sheep and cattle breeds, remarkably well managed with the minimal rainfall received. Afternoon activities include an escorted tour to Lake Eyre. Return to the Station prior to sunset for wine and dining under a canopy of stars. Time to rest; accommodation is at the rustic Muloorina Station Shearer's Quarters. There are no en suites here.
Day Three: Muloorina - Curtin Springs Station
Waking to the sounds of nature, AAA guests enjoy a Station-style breakfast before re-joining their aircraft for a scenic flight across the entire landmass of Lake Eyre via Oodnadatta arriving into Curtin Springs Station. Owned by the Severin Family, Curtin Springs Station is steeped in history bound by amazing stories of struggle and triumph. Morning tea is served before the tour sets out for Mount Connor.
Mount Connor is a significantly large mountain plateau. Fortunately for AAA guests, all will have seen Mount Connor from on high during the arrival flight. During the Mount Connor ground tour, a BBQ lunch will be served at a large tranquil waterhole. Returning prior to sunset to share stories during dinner. Time to rest; accommodation is at Curtin Springs Station.
Day Four: Curtin Springs Station - Yulara, Ayers Rock, Olgas - Kings Creek Station
AAA guests will notice the early morning start that is common to station life, as they rise from their slumber for breakfast. Departing Curtin Springs Station AAA pilots fly to Yulara. Once at Yulara AAA guests are escorted on a guided tour of the Red Centre's more famous natural wonders, the spectacular Olgas and the indisputable grandeur of Ayers Rock. Today's lunch reservation is located at the Ininti Aboriginal Centre. Allowing time for all to be educated and well catered for, guests proceed with their travel arriving at Kings Creek Station, in time for sunset and a unique dining experience. Time to rest, well-appointed tented-cabin accommodation is at Kings Creek Station. No en suites here.
Day Five: Kings Canyon
Waking to smell of spinifex warming in the morning sun enjoy a leisurely breakfast prior to an overland journey to Kings Canyon. AAA guides arrange all guests in readiness for a trek which leads guests around the heights of this spectacular canyon. Lunch is served within Kings Canyon prior to returning to Kings Creek Station to refresh prior to viewing the sunset with pre-dinner drinks. Time to rest; accommodation is at Kings Creek Station. There are no en suites here.
Day Six: Kings Creek Station - Coober Pedy - Andamooka
Wishing farewell to your hosts at Kings Creek Station after breakfast, AAA pilots fly guests to Yulara for fuel before proceeding to Coober Pedy. On arrival at Coober Pedy, lunch is served during an escorted tour of the famous Breakaways. Continuing this day, fly further to Andamooka in time for an easy trek around this very small albeit interesting opal town, time to enjoy the spoils once more of another glorious Australian sunset. Time to rest; accommodation is at Andamooka Hotel.
Day Seven: Andamooka - Roxby Downs
Contrasting the remote Andamooka mining town, AAA guests depart after breakfast for a 15 minute flight arriving at Roxby Downs. AAA guides escort guests through the very modern town of Roxby Downs. Roxby Downs is yet another mining town, with a difference, extracting a various number of assorted minerals. Lunch is provided before an afternoon sunset makes for a wonderful backdrop before settling in for dinner and wine. Time to rest; accommodation is at Roxby Downs Motor Inn.
Day Eight: Roxby Downs - Port Lincoln
Gentle awakenings complement breakfast before a surface tour of the Roxby Downs mineral mine. AAA pilots track toward Port Lincoln flying over Whyalla, before continuing down the Eyre Peninsula to Port Lincoln. On arrival in Port Lincoln lunch is within the town centre prior to a tour of the area and a sand dune ride! Afternoon sunset soon turns to night which means local crayfish is on order. Tonight represents the last night of an adventure for all AAA guests during their farewell dinner. Otherwise known as lobster, crayfish are abundant to the region, delightfully prepared and presented by the chefs at the town's own Hilton Motel. AAA guests celebrate during dinner as they recount their many new memories of the itinerary they have completed. Time to rest; accommodation tonight is at the Hilton Motel, Port Lincoln.
Day Nine: Port Lincoln - Naracoorte - Melbourne
Contented by peaceful sleeps and a delicious breakfast AAA guests depart Port Lincoln to fly across the topographical points of both Yorke and Fleurieu Peninsulas to arrive at Naracoorte. On arrival at Naracoorte AAA guests are welcomed for lunch before an escorted tour of the town's mystical caves and the Bool Lagoon. An easy finish to the day, AAA pilots depart Naracoorte tracking homeward bound for Essendon, Melbourne arriving at 1700.
