Destination Profile - Cooinda, Yellow Waters, Northern Territory
Cooinda is located on the South Alligator River, Kakadu National Park. The Yellow Waters at Cooinda gets its name from the algal bloom found floating on its surface. It is a paradise for birdlife including the comb-crested jacana, whistling kite, sea eagle, brolga and jabiru.
The cruise is therefore best taken in the early morning or the late afternoon when the birds are most active. This Yellow Waters Cruises, where giant saltwater crocodiles and birds are seen on the flood plain amongst paperbark, pandanus and fresh water mangroves is a natural visual feast! An abundance of fish provides a source of food for the large population of crocodiles.
Enjoy this cruise in the afternoon on the Wet Season Spectacular Australian Adventure.
