Day One: Melbourne – Flinders Island

AAA guests depart Melbourne from Essendon Airport at 0800. Soar over Wonthaggi and Wilson’s Promontory, past Deal Island arriving into Lady Barron on Flinders Island. Welcomed into the Furneaux Tavern Motel at petite Lady Barron, you have time to refresh before AAA guides arrange an island tour of beautiful Flinders Island using a private vehicle.
This remote island is surrounded by pristine sandy beaches and is home to some significant historical sites such as Wybalenna Chapel. Savour a picnic lunch at a secluded location, no hustling for a spot! Visit the architecturally appealing island museum before returning to the Furneaux Tavern for an early dinner. Tonight’s nature show is something special; board your evening boat cruise to watch as the sky turns black as countless pairs of mutton birds soar silently overhead as they return to their rookery.

Day Two: Flinders Island – Freycinet Peninsula

Arriving at Launceston Airport, we take a scenic drive through the north east of Tasmania’s picturesque countryside.  Arriving at Freycinet Lodge, AAA guests are served a gourmet lunch with an amazing view. Freycinet Lodge is easy to fall in love with, whether it be the architecture of the Lodge itself, or the cuisine to savour, served within its idyllic position. Following lunch, guests are eventually convinced to leave the splendour of the Lodge to take part in an easy trek along Richardson’s Beach with an additional option to view a Tasmanian sunset at the aptly named Sunset Point. Down to the last drop of champagne or the last ray of sunlight, whatever comes first, return to Freycinet Lodge for dinner.

Day Three: Wineglass Bay – Hazards Beach

Birds calling from across the bay act as nature’s own alarm clock, reminding guests to start their day.  Take a cruise around the Peninsula, Shouten Island seal colony and Wineglass Bay this morning, with freshly shucked Coles Bay oysters on board. The coastal scenery in this region is superb.  Returning to your retreat, Freycinet Lodge chefs, along with your hosts eagerly await your return, ready to arrange your sunset pre-dinner drinks, and yet another gourmet dining experience.

Day Four: Freycinet – Hobart

A picturesque morning coastal drive eventually turns inland over the hills back into Launceston. Launceston city is thriving, offering many and various options for restaurant lunch dining. After lunch, you are escorted on a tour of the tremendous Cataract Gorge. Trails surrounding the Gorge offer the opportunity to view its splendour or simply go aboard the scenic chairlift allowing for easy armchair sightseeing. Return to your aircraft for an aerial view of Wineglass Bay on departure to Hobart.

Day Five: Bruny Island, Southern Ocean

Today you will be taken on a journey down to the Southern Ocean on the multi-award winning Bruny Island Eco-Cruise. Bruny Island boasts stunning natural cliff formations, among the tallest in the world. The awesome 'Breathing Rock', the towering 'Monument' and the lush emerald green forests of South Bruny - you will fall in love with this island paradise. The impressive array of sea and coastal wildlife rivals many national parks throughout the world. Meet the Bruny Island seals, dolphins, whales, albatross, eagles, gannet, shearwater and petrel who live in this delicate ecosystem.

Day Six: Hobart – Cradle Mountain

This morning we will fly you over Tasmania’s scenic countryside to Devonport. Over-land by private vehicle into Tasmania’s high country, arrive at Cradle Mountain Lodge. On arrival, your lunch is served within the warm mountain-style architecture of the Lodge. Afternoon activities are various and unique to the region. Venture deep into the forest on the King Billy circuit or take advantage of the many activities Cradle Mountain Lodge provides. Select from luxurious spa treatments to the more active fly-fishing lessons conducted by local experts. Dinner and wine menus are of the highest standard, indulge at this most luxurious of retreats.

Day Seven: Cradle Mountain

Enjoy breakfast prior to an easy morning at leisure. Afternoon activities include an over-land journey toward the scenic Dove Lake circuit, enjoying awe-inspiring views of Cradle Mountain and the serenity of Dove Lake. AAA guests walk along an easy trail which is both very refreshing and rewarding, especially for those guests who are avid photographers. Returning to the Lodge for lunch, there is time to relax after an invigorating walk.

Day Eight: Cradle Mountain – Corinna, Tarkine Wilderness

Departing Cradle Mountain Lodge this morning the drive is a scenic one as you descend into the tiny town of Corinna in the Tarkine Wilderness. Settle in to your wilderness retreats, beautifully built to the traditional design with creature comforts the miners of yesteryear could only dream of! This afternoon a very special cruise along the Pieman River in a boat built in 1939 from huon pine. The cruise along the Pieman will reveal just how beautiful, fragile and pristine this region is.

Day Nine: Tarkine Wilderness – King Island

Rejoin your aircraft in Devonport for a short flight out over Bass Strait to tiny King Island. This afternoon your private tour will take you to the picturesque southern end of the island. Dinner tonight is at the local pub in the main settlement of Currie and enjoy the island’s high quality fresh produce. Return to your accommodation for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Day Ten: King Island – Melbourne

Tour over-land using private vehicle to explore King Island’s various natural, historic and man-made features to the north. Visits are made to the Kelp Factory and the world renowned King Island Dairy. Make celebratory purchases of various cheeses as souvenirs to take home. Pilots depart King Island late afternoon to cross Bass Strait, soaring to Cape Otway and following the Great Ocean Road via Apollo Bay, Lorne, Anglesea and The Heads to Essendon Airport, Melbourne by 1830.
