Majestic Lord Howe Island
See the best of this World Heritage Listed Island wonderland
AAA guests depart Melbourne Airport to Sydney Airport transferring to Qantas Link arriving on Lord Howe at around 1400.
The beauty of your Lord Howe Island experience is not only in its surrounds. Air Adventure Australia has selected two of the island’s best guides: Clive Wilson has dedicated a lifetime of passion for the island’s topography, its flora and fauna and is regarded highly by fellow islanders. Likewise, Dean Hiscox has equal passion for the Island. Dean has been an Island Ranger for 16 years, practising his work as a highly qualified naturalist. You are in the good company of experts during the six day stay. AAA guests will be versed on the many variables that have made Lord Howe Island one of Australia’s more dramatic islands; both Clive and Dean will optimise the perfect fit for every Air Adventure Australia itinerary which is governed by the ever-changing weather conditions.
Accommodation is at the historic Pine Trees Resort, perfectly situated with direct lagoon access making walks or bike rides an easy exercise. Pine Trees Resort is rustic, fused with modern venues like the Boat Shed veranda. Lord Howe Island is 702km north east from Sydney Harbour, regarded as the jewel in the crown poised within the Tasman Sea of New South Wales. Activities are plentiful, be it soft adventure or the more extreme. Glass-bottomed boat cruise over the world’s most southerly tropical coral reef, snorkel up close to the colourful tourist-friendly marine life, explore the outer island’s shores by boat settling upon North Beach for a delicious BBQ, private vehicle transfer combined with an easy trek to Little Island to view the island’s multitude of birdlife and rainforest. Famous to the Island is the kentia palm, alongside tourism the kentia palm has provided Islanders with another prosperous industry. AAA guides will arrange your visit to view the enormous Kentia Palm Nursery.
Lord Howe Island offers numerous treks, from an easy stroll through the Valley of the Shadows to a round of golf, both highly rewarding and visually spectacular. Refreshments are at Wilson’s with an opportunity to hear some island history. Scenic walk through Stevens Reserve and the Round Island cruise, weather permitting. AAA will also arrange a scenic flight of the Balls Pyramid if numbers permit.
Other activities will include: Welcome by Clive Wilson; various walks, some difficult, some easy (you choose what suits your capability). Golf is available as is bowls.
