History of Air Adventure Australia
Rod Dyer has been in the air safari business since 1977, and as a former cattle station owner in various parts of Australia knows the country very well.
A pilot himself, Rod was asked by a group of friends to fly them around the Kimberley region, aware of his knowledge of the area. After the success of that first trip, demand quickly grew for Rod to fly small groups to other areas of Australia.
Initially, Rod did the flying himself, in his own plane - a Cessna 210, carrying six passengers.
In 1978, the company 'Air Adventure Australia Pty Ltd' was incorporated.
Initially tours were created "on demand", until in the early 1980s the first brochure of tours was created. Also at this time, as demand increased, the company moved up to larger, twin-engine aircraft which were hired along with their pilots.
Today, Rod Dyer's Air Adventure Australia celebrates 29 years of informative and inspirational tourism experiences.
Paying tribute to Rod's success are the many and varied unique resorts, luxurious hotels and safari style tented cabins. Through Rod's long association with multiple outback tourism operators utilising 4WDs, hot air balloons and boats from as small as a canoe used for navigation within Adels Grove waterways to larger boutique services offered by True North & Kimberley Quest, and not to forget the use of rare vintage trains offering complete opulence.
Air Adventure Australia Central Reservations and Operations departments are located in Hamilton, in the Western District of Victoria. All AAA flights depart from Essendon Airport, Melbourne.
